Our Head Sommelier Paul Fogerty alongside our Restaurant Manager Robert Bowe, have been responsible for the wine cellars at Ashford Castle, who have witnessed the incredible development of wine in Ireland. Today, with an impressive list of over 600 wines, they areparticularly proud of the selection of Irish wines featured, with Irishmen making wines in nearly every wine region in the world. We also proudly feature Bouchard Finlayson, our sister property, a South African vineyard producing some of the finest wines of the region.
The restaurant at Ashford Castle was the first in Ireland to receive an Award of Excellence in 1999 from Wine Spectator Magazine on the recommendations of our American customers, and we have received this Award for many years following this. Other accolades have included The Best Wine List in Ireland and Best Wine Experience from the Restaurateurs Association of Ireland and Hospitality Ireland Magazine and the Best Wine Experience Award from the Hotel and Catering Review Annual Awards.
